At Jennings, we try to ensure that our customers get the maximum life and enjoyment out of their rugs, which is why we have selected two types of underlay.
We are pleased to recommend Foxi®*, this is excellent when used with either carpet or hard flooring. It is the leading brand anti-slip underlay, which we have been successfully supplying to our customers for almost 25 years as it is specifically for hand made rugs. In our experience, the other anti-slip products that we have tried do not offer the same performance in either anti-slip or longevity. This is not satisfactory in resolving uneven flooring issues.
For those homes with uneven traditional floorboards or stone floors with obvious grouting or unevenness, we can recommend a blended Felt** mix, which will save the rug from becoming prematurely worn and also has the added benefit of feeling softer and more luxurious. The weight of underlay chosen provides a good balance between performance and depth. This is not an anti-slip product
* Foxi®antislip underlay is available in 3 widths, you may need to select a number of widths for your rug and then trim down to size is easy to cut and should be undersized by a couple of inches all around.
**This product is available in rolls which are just under 5ft wide 150cm so on larger carpets the felt may need to be in several pieces. It is easy to cut and should be undersized by a couple of inches all around.
Please be aware that the use of underlays will not solve problems relating to poorly fitted flooring and should only be used where owners are happy that an additional trip hazard has not been created.
Colours can bleed into existing floor coverings particularly where they have come into contact with moisture. Both underlays are valuable when placing hand made vegetable dyed rugs on lightly coloured floors. They form a barrier which helps prevent dye transfer.
PLEASE NOTE 'RETURNS ON UNDERLAY'. Felt & Foxi® underlay cannot be returned. If ordered it has to be cut specifically to the sizes ordered. Please ensure you order the correct size and be aware that you may need to trim it further to your own size.
